Bikeshift was one of the first companies in the e-commerce sector to sign the Code of Conduct for Good Employment Practices, together with Thuiswinkel.org, INretail, and E-commerce Nederland. The code focuses on continuous learning, safety, diversity, and responsibility in the sector. Bikeshift emphasizes that innovation and respect for employees are essential for sustainable growth in e-commerce and that good employment practices are always a priority.

Today, Bikeshift was one of the first companies in the e-commerce sector to sign the Code of Conduct for Good Employment Practices, which was also presented to Stan Kaatee, Director General of Labor at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. Not because we have to, but because it is part of our DNA and our foundation.

Two years ago, Bikeshift took the initiative to develop such a code. Now, the entire sector, with major initiators such as Thuiswinkel.org, INretail, and E-commerce Nederland, is setting the standard for modern employment practices. And we are very happy about that! Is it a surprise? Certainly not. At Bikeshift, good employment practices are always our number one priority. It is no coincidence that this is one of the principles of our latest campaign, ‘The best delivery drivers, better delivery’. This is not a marketing statement, but a promise to the people who make our work possible every day: delivery drivers, order pickers, drivers, and logistics staff.

Innovation without the right people is like an empty box.

The code of conduct “Good Employment Practices” covers four topics that we always put into practice:

✔️ Continuous learning and development
✔️ Safety as a foundation
✔️ Diversity as a strength
✔️ Responsibility throughout the chain

The e-commerce sector is growing rapidly. More than 30% of all retail spending is digital. It generates billions of euros in revenue, but also poses significant challenges. Because that growth must be sustainable. And that starts with the people who deliver, who pack, who help customers. As a sector, we will show that speed and a people-oriented approach can go hand in hand. That innovation and respect are not mutually exclusive.

At Bikeshift, we are proud to be leading the way in this area. Together with others, companies, network organizations, and other parties. Together, we are continuing to build a very proud sector. For us, good employment practices are not an end goal, but the only right direction to take!
